Ed Rawlings Press Kit
New Album, A Foolish Inconsistency,
released November 2024:
ED RAWLINGS has been playing in the Bay Area for over forty years, beginning in the eighties as lead guitarist for local punk/new wave bands Hostages and Die Bossa Nova. In his four decades as a Bay Area musician, Rawlings has played at notable Bay Area clubs such as The Mabuhay Gardens, Sound of Music, The Palms, The Stone, Berkeley Square, and more. And, of course, at the Hostages' infamous South-of-Market loft parties.
Long a fan of instrumental rock music, Ed took his first steps into the world of instrumental music in the late nineties with the band Lost Lake, playing original music along with popular surf and instrumental covers. Lost Lake released a CD of original instrumentals in 1999 titled Without a Paddle.
In November 2024, Ed released his first solo album, A Foolish Inconsistency. The album features original instrumental songs, produced by Michael Rosen at East Bay Recorders in Oakland, CA.
Ed performed songs from the album there with a live band on November 10, 2024 (see the videos on this page). Full bio

“The expressive tonality of Rawlings’ work reaches into a plethora of different corners; on A Foolish Inconsistency he makes a point of not having one signature sound, and the album is better for that approach.”
“…catchy melodic runs, with hints of surf rock…
”… reminiscent of Mark Knopfler’s work for film soundtracks…“
